Meet Luis. He’s from Portugal and he’s living in Bulgaria.
What a sentence! When you first read it you are probably thinking “That makes no sense at all!”. The population of Bulgaria is constantly decreasing, one of the reasons being people leaving the country and “looking for their luck elsewhere”. Still, there are foreigners that prefer to leave their country and land in Bulgaria. Some even think in long term and buy a property. These people were like leprechauns to me: I’ve heard of them but never seen one. Well, not any more! Last week I not only saw one but got the chaance to talk with him. I asked him few questions starting with “why the hell would you chose Bulgaria” and it turned out to be a very interesting conversation.

July 7, 2018 at 02:50You are right, here… it was an interesting conversation. I really liked Luis and his gungho attitude. He seemed to be making the most of his opportunities, there, learning the language, visiting different parts of the country, etc. Very cool. It’s also always very interesting to hear how other people perceive your country. As an English teacher to international students, I’m hearing people’s perceptions about NZ all day every day… not all positive… 😂
