Have no fear, Wimbledon is here! 🙂 Lets start with the basics…
What is Wimbledon?
Wimbledon is district of southwest London but the Wimbledon we are going to talk about now is the tennis Championship (simply known as Wimbledon) that takes place every year. Founded in 1877, Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and probably the most prestigious one. It is played on outdoor grass courts, everybody from the players wears white and there is no sponsorship around the court. Together with the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open, Wimbledon is one of the Four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The tournament usually takes place beginning of July.
While being at Wimbledon and watching the tournament Live can be an awesome experience, I will give you a pretty nice alternative with this article- a Rooftop Bar!
How to find the place?
Pretty easy to be found! Probably you have heard of Selfridges before- that huge store on Oxford Street. You find the shop, you find the bar! Just go to one of the stations that are on that street (Bond Street, Marble Arch, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road), find the store, which is between Bond Street and Marble Arch, ask the staff about the bar and they will direct you to the express lift that will lead you to the rooftop. BOOM!
The advantages…
Well, you will not be able to feel the atmosphere as if you are watching it live but this is a pretty nice alternative plus you will miss the queues (which are enormous) and you will not need to buy a ticket. Plan in advance, make a reservation and you will be able to have a nice spot to a big screen on a wall with a drink in your hand. You may also have lunch/dinner but you will be away from the screen. If the weather is good, there’s a big chance you can catch a tan as well 😉
