Big Ben going silent ~ 1 min read

a close up of a big cracked bell called big ben

Last Monday, 21 August 2017, Big Ben chimed for a last time…
Don’t worry, it’s not permanent but you will probably not hear this chime in the next 4 years. People have been talking about this moment a lot and it is finally here. The REASON: Major works need to be done.
Scaffolding have been partly covering the tower since the beginning of the year but even though the bell will be silent, the clock will still be working. However, parliament’s “clock masters” will ensure Big Ben can still chime for events such as New Year’s Eve and Remembrance Sunday.
We love that bell. And the tower as well. We really do! We love it so much that we have created a whole playlist of videos about the monument including information about:

  1. How Big Ben got its name
  2. If Big Ben is the bell then what is the name of the tower?
  3. Is the bell CRACKED?
  4. From where to capture the best sides of the monument?
  5. And some curious little facts

Basically it’s ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BIG BEN in those videos. Even a small chime can be heard in one of them, in case you miss it. Find out in which one 😉
